Animal rights supporters criticize Dwayne Johnson for aquarium trip
Dwayne "the Rock" Johnson (46) is not only a talented actor but also one of the most likable celebrities. The star, along with his girlfriend Lauren Hashian and 2-year-old daughter Jasmine visited the Georgia Aquarium a few days ago. After the trip, Dwayne didn’t hesitate to share some photos from the trip on his Instagram profile and spare a few words about sea life. "More than 100,000 animals and sea creatures here that I’m in constant awe of. Specifically, this whale shark that I’m contemplating jumping in the tank and jumping on its back."
The actor was even posing with a beluga whale and a seal
"Found my next co-star. Just look at this beautiful animal with staggering intelligence. And the Beluga Whale is awesome too"
They object to zoos, parks and aquariums that keep animals in captivity. They surely commented on the actor’s trip
"This is sad," wrote a commenter, who also used the anti-captivity hashtag #EmptyTheCages
"Yes, they’re magnificent! They certainly don’t belong in an aquarium! Animals are used for humans’ amusement and profit … they should ALL be free to live their lives as nature intended!" - another fan commented
"They DON’T BELONG IN CAPTIVITY. Animals are NOT for our entertainment." - someone else wrote
"Animal cruelty and captivity should not be supported, let alone promoted. I thought you were a man of principles whose views would be against such concepts." - this comment got more than 1,100 likes
Well, the trip created a total chaos online and went viral
Apart from anti-aquarium critics, there were also those who accused them of being too sensitive
There were also those who defended aquariums stating that they were not that harmful because animals born there might not survive in the wild
The Georgia Aquarium is not such a happy place as Dwayne shows on his photos and videos
It faced criticism for the deaths of beluga whales that it possesses
In November, the beluga whale Qinu lost her calf as a consequence of complications during delivery
In Defense of Animals, the animal rights organization considered this Atlanta attraction as the one with fourth-worst tanks for animals in North America
The actor may not been aware of the dangers that those aquariums pose for those innocent creatures...
