Aretha Franklin is reportedly gravely ill
Aretha Franklin, a famous 76-year-old American singer and songwriter, is seriously ill. "She has been ill for a long time. She did not want people to know and she didn’t make it public," her friend revealed. Her state must be quite severe since her family was "asking for prayers and privacy." She is reportedly gravely ill and surrounded by her relatives and friends all the time. Some of her closest ones state that her condition is rather poor and that her weight is down to 85 lbs.
Some time ago there were rumors of Franklin's battle with cancer, however, the singer didn’t confirm the news. "I am not going to even deal with that."
Aretha Franklin cancels her concerts
This year she had concerts planned in March and April but she was forced to cancel them under doctor’s orders
"Aretha Franklin has been ordered by her doctor to stay off the road and rest completely for at least the next two months," the statement said.
In February of 2017, she announced her retirement from music "I will be recording, but this will be my last year in concert. This is it"
In spite of her poor condition that deteriorated in recent years, she came back to the stage last August for a performance at the Mann Center in Philadelphia
However, changes in her appearance were quite visible and that caused concerns about her health
She also decided to sing at the Elton John AIDS Foundation’s Enduring Vision benefit gala in November 2017
In April 2011, she was hospitalized for an unspecified operation. She lost weight but didn’t address the rumors that she was struggling with cancer
"I feel fabulous, really. And I’m so thankful to all of the people who said a little prayer for me. People at the check out line in the market were telling me that they prayed for me. It’s amazing how beautiful people can be," she said in the interview
Throughout a few years, she canceled many concerts and now she has another battle to fight

She was the first woman to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame
Franklin has 44 Grammy nominations and 18 wins. She performed at the inaugurations of three presidents: Jimmy Carter, Bill Clinton, and Barack Obama
