'Facts of Life' star Charlotte Rae, dies at 92
Charlotte Rae was an amazing woman. Her career lasted six decades so she was a devoted actress. First, she stunned the audience as a housekeeper Edna Garrett playing on the sitcom Diff'rent Strokes. then she moved to the new role and played a wise and patient housemother on the sitcom "The Facts of Life". That one made her a famous star! All her fans know that she was even nominated for both the Tony and Emmy Awards twice. It's a big loss for contemporary sitcoms not to have such an incredibly charming actress anymore...
Charlotte Rae spent the last moments of her life at her Los Angeles home and peacefully passed away at age 92 with the family at her side. As to cause of death, it was not known immediately but Rae was diagnosed with bone cancer last year. Previously, she managed to beat pancreatic cancer in 2009.
